Wiki Research

Wiki can be used in my current classes in several different ways. Instead of using traditional presentation software, put presentations on a wiki. For some classes such as history, make it a class project to collaboratively write a reference book that others can use. Students can create study guides for a specific part of the unit that is being studied. Summaries can be crated after reading a chapter of a book in classes such as English and history.  Wiki encourages students to share review notes and other helpful pieces of information on your classroom’s wiki. School papers can be written and the students to draft their papers in a wiki, then ask other students to comment it. We create one in this class and utilize it by collaborating on a project or tech article each week. My experience using wiki is when working on a project, i can rely on the sources that wiki provides.

Do Now 10/28/2013

If I were invisible for a day, many things would be done in order to help many. I would try to cure the new distributive diseases that are affecting many lives all around the world. For example, I would work along with great scientist to cure diseases like cancer. I would help the seniors of the world feel younger. Children that are happily running around and even if they fall their scars would be heal. Broken bones would be fix immediately as well.
I would help lost children and or individuals find their way home. Kidnappers and murderers would be find by me and punish immediately. Families that are split apart for several circumstances of life would be able to meet together more often when missed. When accidents such as car crashes and or demolitions happen i would be able to save the many lives affected. Many people would be helped by the  actions taken place by me. People would be thankful and appreciate more their lives and their surroundings.

Visually Impaired Turn to Smartphones to See Their World

In recent years, many smartphone apps that are aimed at blind people have appeared.

  • Blind people with an iPhone will be able to use the same technology we do.
  • Advocates for the blind say that the device could be the biggest assertive aid to the blind since braille was invented.
  • People with vision problems can use voice commands to read and write.
  • Windows phones offer some voice commands.
  • One of Apple's features helps blind people take photos.
  • The phone can say how many heads are in the picture and where they are in the frame.
  • Accessibility innovations have also led to using a smartphone’s camera to allow the blind and visually impaired to shop, count money and live independently in ways many of us take for granted.
  • Apples tecnology includes VoiceOver and lets blind people interact with their devices using multitouch gestures on the screen.
  • The iPhone will read aloud the name of each application.
  • Swiping two fingers down the screen will promt the phone to read the text out loud in the reading app.
  • The iPhone also supports 40 different braille bluetooth keyboards
  • Another innovations like Siri and Dictation help users type, read calendars and launch apps like Facebook  and Twitter.
  • These demonstrations clearly show how a smartphone with accessibility software can open many avenues to help the blind and visually impaired be more included in everyday life.
