Ikea Concept Kitchen 2025

Ikea Temporary Kitchen at the Expo Mila in Milan is the result of a project with  a variety of designs, of which a few outstanding examples were included in the Temporary Kitchen. 

One of these is what looks like an ordinary, somewhat rustic, table that in 2025 will supposedly be the focus of cooking, eating, work, play, and socializing, yet works to make people more creative while cutting down on waste.

The wooden shelves contain hidden sensors and smart induction cooling technology while perishable foods are immediately visible, which promotes their use instead of being forgotten at the back of the fridge. 

Food is stored in double-walled transparent containers with RFID tags indicating the temperature they should be stored at. 

The induction cooling units use magnetic, stainless steel-gadolinium alloy bases in the shelves to keep the containers at the proper temperature. 

The same containers can be used for heating on the table. There's also low-tech terracotta containers for foods like garlic, potatoes, and carrots.

• The mount, which is the subject of a crowdfunding campaign, connects to any standard camera hot shoe.
• Once the mobile device is strapped in, you can not only compose shots, but also interact with the controls on your camera through its touchscreen. 
• Captured images can be saved to both the camera and the mobile device, and edited right on your phone or tablet.

ARC Vibrating Pen

• The ARC pen is a vibrating writing device that stimulates muscles in the hand, giving those with Parkinson's better control when putting pen to paper.
• The clunky, oversized ARC mightn't look like the most comfortable of pens, but its large form is intended to make it easier to handle for people with Parkinson's disease. 
• Packed inside are high frequency vibration motors which spur certain muscles in the hand into action to allow better control, while simultaneously making it easier for users to drag the pen across the surface of the paper.
• Early trials have been conducted with subjects suffering from the disease and it showed 86 percent overall improvement in writing.
